Joe Pool Lake
Opened in 1989, Joe Pool Lake quickly become a favorite destination for residents of Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond. Whether you prefer birdwatching or fishing, jet-skiing or barbecuing, or you like to spend time in your boat or camper, you can do it all here. At 7,400 acres and with 60 miles of shore, the lake is fed by the waters of Walnut and Mountain creeks and is one of the few in Texas that flows north. The fishing here is excellent, with largemouth bass, white bass, white crappie and channel catfish. There are several boat ramps around the lake and multiple parks, where pursuits include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and picnicking.
